Island Hi-Speed Ferry, a 250-passenger catamaran operated by Boston Harbor Cruises, will begin to sail from Old San Juan’s Pier 2 to Vieques and Culebra, said local company consultant Bob Leith.

The vessel’s daily sailings will start at 8:00 a.m., with a 9:45 a.m. arrival in Culebra, and continue to Vieques where it will arrive by 11:00 a.m. The return trip from Vieques will be at 3:00 p.m., picking up passengers in Culebra and returning to Old San Juan by 5:45 p.m. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Island Hi-Speed Ferry will repeat the sailings, allowing passengers to stay longer in Vieques and Culebra.

"For added convenience, passengers can take the Urban Train to AcuaExpreso’s Hato Rey terminal or park their cars at the train facilities, then catch the ferry into Old San Juan’s Pier 2," said Leith. "Once on the Island Hi-Speed Ferry, passengers will enjoy the catamaran’s air-conditioned facilities, which include a cash bar with snacks, along with the assurance of a smoother and faster sailing to Vieques and Culebra, thanks to the catamaran’s stabilization system."

Reservations for Island Hi-Speed Ferry can be made by calling 1 (877) CAT-EXPRESS. The fare from San Juan to Culebra is $60 roundtrip, $35 one-way. From San Juan to Vieques, the fare is $70 roundtrip, $40 one-way; and between Culebra and Vieques it is $30 roundtrip, $20 one-way, not including port fees. Rates don’t include port fees.
