Ruben Berrios was born on June 21, 1939 in Aibonito, Puerto Rico. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Georgetown University in 1961. He continued studies at Yale and then Oxford University. He has been a law professor for the University of Puerto Rico since 1967. He was elected as Senator for Puerto Rico during the following terms: 1972-76 1984-1988 1993-1996. He is president of the Independence Party. He has published various articles and books.
