CARIBBEAN BUSINESS New Stores Set Up Shop At Plaza Las Americas Womens apparel chain Bebe to debut in Puerto Rico By TAINA ROSA September 9, 2004 Plaza Las Americas will welcome numerous new stores before the end of the year, according to Lorraine Vissepo, communications director of the malls parent company, Empresas Fonalledas. Among them are newcomers to the local market such as Bebe and Puma. Apparel retailer Bebe will open its first local store in November, bringing its sister concept, Bebe Sport, in tow. The 3,813-square-foot Bebe store and 2,175-square-foot Bebe Sport will be located on the ground floor near J.C. Penney and Macys, said Vissepo. The 10,253-square-foot Macaroni Grill, a quick-service Italian restaurant, will soon open as well, although it is still under construction. It will be located near the Caribbean Cinemas movie theater. Argentinean restaurant Tierra del Fuego, whose name was the object of a long legal battle that was recently resolved, will open a 6,489-square-foot locale near Margaritas restaurant on the third floor. Athletic-apparel retailer Puma will open in December. "It will occupy 3,019 square feet and will be located where Io used to be," said Vissepo. Beauty retailer Amado Amado will open a 4,472-square-foot store before the end of the year as well. As CARIBBEAN BUSINESS recently announced (CB Sept. 2), Hot Topic will open a store in Plaza Las Americas. Although Vissepo couldnt confirm this information, company sources said it will occupy more than 2,000 square feet.
