US Airways To Begin New York-San Juan Service

ARLINGTON, Va. -- US Airways announced today that it will begin nonstop service between New York's LaGuardia airport and San Juan, Puerto Rico, effective Dec. 13, 2003.

US Airways will operate nonstop roundtrip flights on this route each Saturday, using 120-seat Airbus A319 aircraft. Flights will depart New York at 9:30 a.m., and will arrive in San Juan at 2:23 p.m. Return flights will depart San Juan at 3:30 p.m., and will arrive in New York at 6:33 p.m.

"San Juan and New York are key cities and integral to our Caribbean network," said Douglas D. Leo, US Airways vice president of international. "We are pleased to link these business and leisure markets for our customers in both communities."

US Airways currently operates twice-daily service to San Juan from Charlotte, N.C., with an additional frequency on Saturday and Sunday. Philadelphia-San Juan service operates three times each day, with four frequencies on Saturday. US Airways also serves San Juan with Saturday and Sunday service from both Boston and Pittsburgh. Boston-San Juan flights will operate daily beginning in November 2003.

US Airways will add flights between Charlotte and Mexico City starting Oct. 26, 2003, and between San Jose, Costa Rica and both Charlotte and Philadelphia on Nov. 8, 2003.

US Airways, the US Airways Express carriers and US Airways Shuttle provide service to nearly 200 destinations worldwide, including 37 states in the U.S. In the Caribbean, US Airways serves Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Cancun, Cozumel, Grand Bahama Island, Grand Cayman, Grenada, Montego Bay, Nassau, Providenciales, Punta Cana, San Juan, Santo Domingo, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, and St. Croix. US Airways Express also serves North Eleuthera, Governors Harbour, Marsh Harbour and Treasure Cay from select cities in Florida. Through the GoCaribbean network carriers, US Airways serves Anguilla, Dominica, St. Eustatius, Nevis, Port of Spain, Saba, St. Barthelemy, St. Vincent, Tobago, Tortola, and Georgetown, Guyana.
