Even in a slow economy, Plaza Las Americas (PLA) keeps adding more variety to its tenant mix to attract more traffic.

According to PLA General Manager Franklin Domenech, continuous expansion will trigger 25% growth by the end of the year.

In the next two months, PLA will be adding seven new establishments to its roster. These are Zara, Margarita’s, Oriental Palace, The Sony Store, The Bombay Co., Ciao Mediterranean, and Constellations.

And there’s more to come in 2002, Domenech said.

According to PLA parent Empresas Fonalledas Communications & Public Relations director Lorraine Vissepo, Spain-based fashion store Zara will be the largest store of the seven new establishments at 16,000 square feet. It is expected to open in November.

"The Sony Store, a.k.a. [local TV personality] Otto Oppenheimer’s store, will feature technological innovations unavailable elsewhere," Vissepo said, adding that it will occupy 2,369 square feet of the second floor and will open this month.

The Bombay Co.–a furniture & home decoration store–is slated to open in November and will occupy 2,792 square feet, she said.

Margarita’s, Oriental Palace, and Ciao Mediterranean are restaurants. Margarita’s will open in November and occupy 5,770 square feet. Oriental Palace, also opening in November, will occupy 2,782 square feet. Ciao Mediterranean will open in near yearend said Vissepo.

Constellations, also planned to open during this month, will occupy 1,029 square feet.
